Montréal is a great city to visit. It’s a city that I would qualify as half european and half north american. It’s very safe and there’s quite a lot to do and a lot to see. Depending on the type of traveler you are and what you like to do, Montreal, and the close by National Park have a lot to offer.

You can reach for any taxies by lifting your hand. There are also a mobile application for the largest corporation of taxi which is Taxi COOP.
Uber is also very common and sometimes cheaper than a taxi.
Finding a parking spot downtown can be quite challenging. Most of the parcometers have a 2-3 hours limit but if you download the app (https://www.agencemobilitedurable.ca/en/practical-info/pmobileservice) you can extend it remotely. You actually cannot extend per say,but you can purchase another stay. Meaning you have to wait a close a possible of the 2 hours since the remaining time is lost. Pay your parking! They are quite fast on giving tickets.
To use public transport in Montréal you need an OPUS rechargeable card that costs $6 or buy single fares from metro stations. You can buy it at any metro station or at a point of sale.
Note: OPUS cards and non-rechargeable smart cards cannot be shared by multiple people travelling at the same time.
