Montreal is not the kind of places where it can get from a safe to a dangerous place in few intersections. So don’t worry if your’re not in the zone. It’s mainly to be close to attractions and far from solely residential arias. That being said, I think visiting “boring” neighborhoods should be a part of your travel if you are interested in understanding how “normal people” live in Montreal.
